Assignment 6

Figure is any positive shape or form noticeably separated from the background or the negative space and ground is the surface of the two dimensional design that acts as the background or surrounding space for the figures in the composition my shapes do not compete to act as positive and negative space. The figure/ground relationship is most evident in the center. And a way I can improve this design is to add more differences in my shapes making them more unique

The primary Focal point is the house at the top of the hill, at the top of the page unlike how the rule of thirds suggests that the best place to put a focal point would be in the direct center of the page. The visual flow in the image is strong due to the amount of long parallel lines in the image. There is also a large use of proximity and negative space. There is a lot of continuation concentrated on the bottom of the design. There is a lot of repetition in the use of line and black and white color. The composition achieves an asymmetrical balance. The drawing does not display a confident use of the Pitt pens due to it being the first time used by the artist. The design and photo presented are displayed in a professional manner. The design can be improved by a better display of lines and a better use of proportion from the original image.
